Race Day Transportation

SHUTTLES

Private chartered bus services will be provided by Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation. Bauer’s provides top-of-the-line vehicles to comfortably get you around on race day. You can relax in Bauer’s shuttles for complete round-trip service from one of their three pick up locations around the Bay Area or utilize their express service back to the starting area or BART from the Finish Line Festival.

Shuttle Options:

  • North Bay Shuttle - The shuttle will pickup from the Mill Valley Park & Ride lot (Manzanita Parking Lot, Shoreline Highway) at 6:00 a.m. and take you to the Start Line. After the race the shuttle will depart from the Finish Line Festival at 11:30 a.m. and return to the Mill Valley Park & Ride lot.
  • South Bay Shuttle - The shuttle will pickup from the Millbrae Park & Ride lot (BART Station at Millbrae Avenue) at 6:00 a.m. and take you to the Start Line. After the race the shuttle will depart from the Finish Line Festival at 11:30 a.m. and return to the Millbrae Park & Ride lot.  *This is the best option for CALTRAIN Riders
  • East Bay Shuttle - The shuttle will pickup from the Emeryville Park & Ride lot (Emeryville Amtrak Station) at 6:00 a.m. and take you to the Start Line. After the race the shuttle will depart from the Finish Line Festival at 11:30 a.m. and return to the Emeryville Park & Ride lot.
  • Downtown Express Shuttle - One way shuttle from the Finish Line Festival to the Start Line from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Express BART Shuttle – One way shuttle from Finish Line Festival to Embarcadero BART Station from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 

Purchasing Bauer’s Transportation with new registration

Race Packet Pick Up:
•    In person at Expo: If you are picking up your race packet in-person at the Bay to Breakers Expo on either May 16 or 17, you will receive your transportation pass at that time.
•    By mail: If your race packet is being mailed you will receive your transportation pass with your race packet.

Adding Bauer’s Transportation to Existing Registration

Race Packet Pick Up:
•    In person at Expo: If you are picking up your race packet in-person at the Bay to Breakers Expo on either May 16 or 17, you will receive your transportation pass at that time.
•    By mail: You will receive your transportation pass at the shuttle departure point. There will be a check-in point at the buses the day of the race. This will be for both round-trip shuttle and one-way shuttle from the finish line area. You also have the option to pick up your transportation pass from Expo event on May 16 or 17.

PARKING

Avoid road closures and crowds — just head to the specially-designated Lyft pickup area near the finish line.

To get there from the finish line:

  1. Head left on the Great Highway, towards the Sunset.
  2. Go left on Lincoln Way.
  3. Take a right on 43rd Avenue. The pickup area is in a parking lot on the left side of the street, between Irving and Judah.

MUNI

MUNI will be offering service from the Finish Line Festival area at the Fulton & 48th location. All fares will be the normal $2 rate. Note, there are no special fares this year. There will be express services back to the downtown area as well as regular local service. You can only purchase your MUNI passes on site the day of the race using either cash or a Clipper card.

BART

BART will open 2 hours early at 6am on race day. Extra service will operate and a time table can be viewed here.

Public Information
BART Public Affairs to publish a BART poster and flyer emphasizing the following:
1. No eating or drinking on BART
2. Footwear is a must
3. All Stations will open 20 minutes ahead of the first train to operate through the station
4. The BART special train schedule

If customers don’t have Clipper cards, encourage race participants to use one-way regular tickets although round-trip tickets will be available. Race participants should be reminded that wet (sweaty) paper BART tickets don’t work. Participants should protect the condition of their round trip tickets or purchase single trip tickets.

CALTRAIN

Caltrain will schedule four special trains to serve selected stations to San Francisco prior to the race start time. This year, Caltrain will not be serving the Santa Clara station. Also, new this year, alcohol will be prohibited on all special trains. Caltrain will provide three express post-race trains to San Carlos. Caltrain tickets sales (One way, Day Pass and parking) will again be available in advance through the Ticket Machine starting Monday, May 12.
